Affiliate disclosure
Right now, we earn nothing
SelectACard is not currently a member of the Amazon Associates program or any other affiliate program. The product links on this site are plain links to Amazon. If you click one and buy something, we receive no commission, no fee and no credit of any kind.
We are telling you this because the honest position today is "we make no money from this site", and it would be easy to leave a boilerplate disclosure in place that implies otherwise.
That is likely to change
We intend to apply to the Amazon Associates program once this site has enough genuine content to be worth reviewing. If we are accepted, the links on this site will become affiliate links, which means Amazon pays us a small percentage when someone buys after following one. The price you pay does not change.
When that happens, all of the following change on the same day:
- This page is rewritten to state the relationship plainly.
- The notice at the top of every page carrying product links is updated to say we earn commission.
- That notice stays above the links, where it is visible before you click, rather than being moved into the footer.
What does not change either way
Whether or not a link earns us anything, the picks are chosen the same way. We do not accept payment for a placement, we do not rank by commission rate, and nobody pays to appear on this site. Where a product is the right answer and we cannot earn from it, we still name it.
We also do not pretend to have tested everything. Where a recommendation rests on specifications, reputation or consensus rather than our own use, the page says so.
Why this notice exists
The US Federal Trade Commission requires that a material connection between a publisher and a seller be disclosed clearly and conspicuously, close to the recommendation it affects. Similar rules apply in the UK and EU. We would rather over-disclose than get this wrong.
