SelectACard helps you find the right card — whether you want to play it, collect it, give it, or learn it. This is the playing cards and card games part.

What we cover

Decks for poker and home games, card games worth owning, the accessories that protect a collection, and clear rules for games worth learning. The rules pages exist because somebody has to write them properly, and most of what is online was written to hold advertising rather than to be read at a table.

What we do not cover

Graded sports cards. Their value depends on set, year, variation and grade, and buyers need live pricing data. We do not have it, so we would be guessing.

Anything we cannot say something useful about. A list of forty decks with a sentence each helps nobody. Our guides name a handful and explain the trade-off each one makes.

How the picks are made

Each guide starts from a question someone actually asks — which deck survives a weekly game, what to play with two people, what stops corner wear — and then names the smallest number of products that answer it.

Every pick carries a line saying what it gives up, because everything gives up something. If a page cannot name the downside, it is not finished.

What we have and have not tested

We say so on the page. Some recommendations come from long use, some from specifications and a strong consensus among people who use them daily. Those are different kinds of confidence and we would rather label them than blur them.

We do not publish invented test results, and we do not describe handling a product we have not handled.

How the site makes money

At the moment, it does not. Product links here are plain links to Amazon and earn us nothing. We intend to join the Amazon Associates program once there is enough content to be worth reviewing, and the affiliate disclosure explains exactly what changes if that happens.

Nobody pays for a placement on this site, and no ranking is for sale.

Corrections

If something here is wrong — a rule stated badly, a product that has changed, a recommendation that has aged — tell us and we will fix it. hello@selectacard.com.
